One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

Similar to the format of Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, the narrator Bromden talks about the story of McMurphy in the One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. In the book his detail description about the Big Nurse and atmosphere of psychiatric ward helps why McMurphy is something different patient and influenced the other patients to be more independent. The restricted and controled atmosphere of the psychiatric ward is the reason how the change that McMurphy bring in the ward is the something desirable and positive. However, in the movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in the first few minutes, there was no scene to explain the pre-condition of the ward. It brings negative influence to the character development of McMurphy. The behavior and attitude of McMurphy is something unusual to the other patients, at the first time, it is possible that McMurphy looks like trouble maker, not the leader of the change.

Compare to the Andy in the Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, the way of McMurphy to change the atmosphere of his community is something different. Andy waited for a lot of times, to prepare get our from the prison and to get opportunities for the time. While the process, luckily his past experience as a banker helps to familiar with Norton, and he gets opportunity to work in the library. As he earned a position, then he starts to expand what he has through writing letters to organizations to get a lot of materials which will be useful for library, and broadcasting a music record throughout the prison, only in the movie. His attitude cannot lead to changes of all prisoners, but in the case of Red, he started to believe one thing: Hope. The plot based on the reality, but still gives calm impression. In the case of McMurphy, as he walks inside to the ward with his intention, it seems like he starts to accomplish his goal, immediatly. Through his attitude destribes in the movie and the book he brings some fresh air to prosaic society. If the movie describes the situation clearly then it would be better.
